The Inverell Visitor Information Centre is located in Campbell Street, Inverell and open seven days a week. From Monday to Friday, opening hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm. On Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, opening hours are 9:00am to 2:00pm. The centre is closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.
The Inverell Visitor Information Centre is housed in an old bowling club, which was moved to the new location in July 2003, as a result of the old Centre becoming too small. The new and exciting Centre has a huge photographic display, together with many brochures of the local district spreading out to all New South Wales and Queensland. The Centre boasts an excellent gem and mineral display, showing the District’s proud mining history. There are not only local gems on display, but also beautiful specimens from around the world. You will be surprised at what comes out of the ground! Some local produce is available together with a wide collection of souvenirs.
The Visitor Information Centre was designed by Tim Russell , including the landscaped gardens. The gardens by the river are used for many occassions, including weddings, concerts, entertainment, photography, formal events and fireworks.
The Riverside Restaurant is a must visit with spectactular views of the gardens and the Macintyre River. Once an old bowling green, now a highlight of Inverell! Open 7 days a week and serving great coffees and meals, with a warm friendly smile you would only expect to see in the country.
One of the editions to the refurbished Visitor Centre is the tourist display board, displaying a map of the area and highlighting places for visitors to fish, camp, drive or have a picnic. The display also includes visitor information on Copeton Dam and Lake Inverell. The magnificant National Parks are a big tourist attraction for Inverell and are world-class with both our Rangers and Field Staff taking pride in looking after them.
The staff at the Inverell Visitors Centre looks forward to welcoming you to the Sapphire City.
